A comparison of database software testing adequacy criteria

Database-driven applications rely on an external database for their operation. Testing of these types of applications to ensure that there are no faults in the database interactions is difficult, but critical. There are some software testing adequacy criteria that have been developed to specifically address the verification of database driven applications. However, there are few if any comparisons of these adequacy criteria. This paper compares two types of database software testing criteria: database interaction associations, specifically at the relation and record level of granularity, and command form coverage. The comparison is focused on the upper bound of the cost to fully satisfy each criteria, and is carried out using three open source database-driven applications from different application domains as subjects. The results of the investigation show that command form coverage is the more costly criteria to fully satisfy through testing for the subject applications.

This article focuses on the computers ability to read human movements for their interaction. It looks at the possibility of encoding discrete and continuous movements. A sequence of movements can be interpreted as commands by the system. This is an interesting topic and critical for future natural user interface and human and machine interactions.

Graph data visualization and layout using game physics

This research report proposes a new approach and a prototype for a new method for visualization that makes the user the central factor in the layout of a graph diagram. This method proposes to use a game physics engine to create a prototype that can provide realistic behaviour to objects and allow users to create their own graph layouts in seconds without any layout algorithm other than the original configuration of fixture types for a physics engine. A technology framework and tools were selected and a prototype was constructed to evaluate the approach and the method was proven to be viable and the prototype was deployed. Future research will be required to improve graphic presentation and allow other datasets to be visualized in combination with more interaction capabilities that allow the user to explore the data and discover new insights more easily than in the past.

TMA 4 - Mobile Healthcare Interfaces and Relationship to Social Independence for Elderly

In this paper, we explore the relationship between user interfaces on mobile healthcare systems and social independence for the elderly. This is an important area of research that needs to be further explored in order to meet growing pressures in our healthcare system. Very little research has been done in order to explore the social concerns that elderly have with the adoption of new technology. As a part of this research we investigate different ways that we can make interfaces more usable by the elderly, how we make the systems more valuable, and how we can assist with the growing concerns of social isolation amongst the elderly.
